I think the theme of my book is to fight for what you believe in and to never back down. This theme covers more than just Isabel's struggles, it go with the Revolutionary War going on in the book as well. Isabel however, as a slave wanting to run away, has been beaten and scarred. She has even been branded buy Ms. Lockton. She will never back down from her dream though. With the Revolutionary War, both the Americans and the British are fighting to see who will be the owners of the New World. Both sides are fighting for what they believe in and they won't switch sides or change their opinion. They will fight for their opinion until they die.

Book Club Book Characters

My favorite character in the book club book right now is probably Isabel. She is a brave girl and can do a lot of work. Seeing as how she is a slave that wants to run away, these two traits will come in handy for her. I would like to meet her in because she has been through a lot and i admire how well she has dealt with it. She has been burned for being insolent, had her sister sold away to another plantation, and on top of it all, she has to live with Madam Lockton. Madam is a horrible and nasty woman, she hates Isabel with all of her heart and soul. She hates slaves in general and can't stand to live with them. I'm amazed at how well tempered Isabel is. I would have already tried to run away or at least tried to get my owners to set me free. Isabel has no friends or anyone to talk to, she must really be one of the bravest characters in any book I've ever read.

1)    My favorite book was probably Salem’s Lot, By: Stephen King. This book is my favorite book of all time. This is probably because Stephen King is one of my favorite authors and that the book had a good atmosphere.

3)    The last book I finished was Monster By: Walter Dean Myers. The overall theme of this book is to stay on the right path and not to stray. The book takes place in a sort of ghetto. This kid has taken part in a robbery of a drug store. However, all he did was walk into the drug store and then walk out. He gave no sign, but is being charged with murder. The two people who were also in on the robbery ended up shooting the owner. He died with a shot from a pistol to the head. He is being charged with murder because he walked in and out of a store. One of the big points of this story are the journal entries that are shown of Steve’s, the main character. I guess I thought it was a good story because of how it was sort of real and that it could actually happen.
